Some roofs just need a patch. Others need to start over. This one needed a full redeck before anything else could happen - and that's exactly where we started. Skipping that step would have meant installing new shingles over a compromised base. That's not something we're willing to do.

We stripped the roof down and got eyes on the actual deck beneath. What we found was a surface that wasn't going to hold up to a proper installation without being brought up to code first. So we laid new OSB sheathing across the deck, gave it a clean sweep, and made sure every panel was solid before moving forward. That's the kind of prep work that doesn't always get talked about, but it's what separates a roof that lasts from one that doesn't.

Once the redeck was done and the underlayment was in place, we moved into the shingle installation using Owens Corning Duration asphalt shingles. These are a premium architectural shingle - thicker, more dimensional, and built with SureNail technology that gives them serious wind resistance. For a home that needed to be brought up to code, this was the right call for the long haul.

The finished roof speaks for itself. Clean lines, consistent pattern, and a dark shingle profile that looks sharp and holds up to real weather. Every layer underneath was done correctly, so the homeowner isn't just getting a good-looking roof - they're getting one with a solid foundation from the decking up.

This is the kind of roof installation we take pride in. It's not about moving fast. It's about doing each step right so the next one can actually do its job. Strong prep. Quality materials. That's how a roof gets built to last.
