In Arizona, your roof isn't just cosmetic. It takes a beating from intense UV exposure, monsoon winds, and temperature swings that push materials to their limits. That's why the foundation of a tile roof - what goes underneath the tile - matters just as much as the tile itself.
Here's what we were working with on this one. We stripped the old tile down to the deck, and before a single new tile went back on, we laid TileSeal HT underlayment across the entire roof. That's a high-temp rated product built specifically for hot climates. It creates a true waterproof barrier, so even if a tile cracks or shifts years down the road, the house underneath stays protected.
You can see the battens running in clean, even rows across the underlayment. Those wood strips are what the tile actually hangs on. Getting them spaced right isn't optional - it's what keeps the tile from shifting, cracking, or sitting unevenly over time. Small detail, big difference in how the roof performs long-term.
We work with tile that's built for value, not just aesthetics. Quality materials paired with solid installation technique is what gives a roof a real lifespan in this climate. Cutting corners on either one is how you end up back on the phone with a roofer sooner than you should be.
This is the kind of tile roof installation we do on every job - no shortcuts on materials, no shortcuts on the process. If your roof is getting up there in age or you're dealing with ongoing issues, this is what a proper replacement looks like from the ground up.
